i think you should get a 125-250 four stroke. That 85r is going to drain your bank account with repairs(i.e. rebuilds, rings, and all that stuff.) i would go with smoething like mntioned abbove because they are reliable, and have lots of low end power but can also made to go pretty fast. I would recommend the crf150 or 230. I dont know much about them yet but with honda's reliability, i grab one at the first chance i get

just my $.02

here are the top 6 85cc bikes
1. YZ85
2. KSX85 (KTM)
3. RM85
4. KX85
5. CR85R
6. CR85
Buy the new KTM KSX85, I heard a lot of good things bout it, might end up buying one..

if your set on getting an 85 two stroke skip them and get the new ktm 105sx or rm/kx100. they will better suit you and you could still grow into it a little bit

Nothing beats a bike!!!! I am a loyal quad rider but a CR85 will spank a 300EX silly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hard to beat any MX bike, acceleration is intense. Sweeping unbanked turns is where the sport quad is king, bikes will out jump and beat you up less too. Still the 300EX is king in tight woods as a sport machine, I know, we own a '95 300EX.

'00 400EX with performance goodies
'03 CRF450R with Carmichael (the punk) Twinwalls and some other silly stuff
