Should I dump my 250R for the new 450R?

If your R is in nice mechanical order why dump it? If you are stock the 450r should be a little more powerful and you won't have too do the dreaded gas mixing routine. On the other hand, the 450r may have a host of problems and may be a second rate quad when compared too the YFZ (which I doubt...but it's possible!).

I really doubt that too, but thats what warrantys are for. I' m over the whole 2-stroke thing. Mine is in great condition, plastic is just a little rough. You can't ride more than an hour without having to adjust something and the mixing gas gets real old. I don't even like to ride it anymore. I' d rather ride my Z than the 250r.

I expect the resale value too drop way down for the 250r's after the YFZ's and 450r's start too have a big impact on the racing world. IMO, if one is gonna sell the R, it should be in the very near furure. 250r owners will not be able too demand a premium price when you can walk into the local atv shop and buy a new one for a couple grand more that has no shortcomings (hopefully).

A lot of die-hard 2 strokers are going to 4-stroke. I've owned two stroke bikes for years - now all I own are 4 strokes. Quite simply, the run smoother and are less prone to carb problems caused by elevation & temperature - they also pollute a lot less!

I hear that. Especially with these new engines.

4 strokes do offer easy maintenace, and usualy electric start, and often reverse. And I guess if the gas mixing thing really is a bother then switch. But its too bad that 2 strokes are still faster than 4 strokes. I own a 86 quadracer, and I was nearly ready to sell it for a Z400. At the hills in Glamis they were faster. Then I did about $200 in mods(carb, air cleaner, porting) and now I can walk over piped z400 and 400ex. I can even almost hang with a Raptor. My bike has cost me a total of around $1500, so i couldn'tt warrant spending $6000 to not go faster. I aslo dont mind working on my quad and mixing gas. However, my wife has a 300ex and I am glad she does. She love the electric start and reverse, plus she can put gas in herself.
Truthfully, I dont think the 250r will go down as much or as fast as many may think. Their presence is too strong, and they are real easy to mod and go fast.

I hear what your saying but, you can't even compare a Z400 or a 400ex to the YFZ or the probably the new 450R.

I noticed that. Look on Ebay for 250Rs and compare it to the prices a few months ago. Same on atv trader. A 250R that was about 8500 a few months ago will sell for about 5000ish now.
