what can a modded 400ex hang with?
#1
im talking bored engine work(you fill in the blank with bore size)
other engine mods
i know with enough money anything be as fast as you want, but im talking realistic mods(ie:maybe grand or two), not pure race bread ex(ie:15k 400ex)
reason i ask is because im wondering if the Ex is worth my $$ to mod for racing/power/fun(ya fun is all objective) i would hate to put alot of money into it and still be slower than the next joe down the street on a predator/raptor/250r/wtf ever.
thanks guys!

My 400 will hang w/ stock raptors, and I have well under a grand in engine mod. If your willing to spend a grand u will be able to be most quads from the average joe.

A V Force? Raptor's eat up V Force's all day at the drag track. They don't even come close. Hell, there is several 400's at the drag track that beat the V force.
Put it this way, it takes a lot of work to catch up to a stock Raptor, but once they get piped, it's a whole nother world catching back up.
If you put enough $$ into the motor, you can catch the stock Raptor's, V forces, ds's, banshee's, and things like that.
If you have alittle cash, you can easily get to the z400's.

You guys have never been on a properly set up 440 or 465 stroker. You have no idea. My full race CT440 with a Ross 12.5:1, 39FCR, Web cam [forgot the grind], that ran on 100 octane would run side by side with my buddies 11.5:1 686 up Comp at Glamis.
There are a couple of 500cc EX's that run with anything at Glamis this side of a drag Banshee.
In General 400ex's are slower than most bikes but If you already own one, $2500 will get you mid 40's hp. And you can pick up used ones for under $3k so it is the cheapest way to build a nice 4 stroke.
I guess what I am trying to say is it is the cheapest 45hp 4 stroke you can buy/build.

or you could buy my little brothers used 2003 (about 15 hours on it) raptor for 4500 then add
500 Pipe
115 piston 102mm 12:1
245 cam and springs Stage 2 HotCam with Kibblewhite springs
45 cylinder bore
50 cometic hp gasket set
145 SixSixT adaptor plate (dual k&n's w/o airbox!)
and you are back WAY ahead of those ex's for the same price!!!!!!

my 416ex would hang with piped and jetted raptors. That kit only costed me 1500 with the pipe p&p
carb and rev kit. In about three weeks I will be getting my 465 stroker fully done and I will let you know how many yamaha's I bang gears past!
