Default 350x electrical problem

I was riding my 350x a while back and when i got home i noticed my headlights and taillight were both burnt out. i put a new bulb in the taillight and it blew out soon as i fired it up again. i'm thinking the voltage regulator is dead but i'm not sure. any feedback would be helpful.

Could be. Put a DCV meter across your battery terminals, start up your machine and hold it at around 3500RPM. If your battery voltage goes above 14.5, it's really likely to be it. Check the connections on the reg\rect itself of course, but there's not much else it could be. BTW, usually when I've seen those units fail (not very often), the cooling fins are packed with mud, likely causing them to overheat.
