I am a new member. I have a TRX200SX and was wondering whats the best way to better the suspension and engine on this quad. How high can you jump the thing. I have only jumped a few feet. Has anyone switched shocks from another quad. How much extra horsepower do you get from a wiesco 12-1 compression piston. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

Well, the 200SX has the same top end as the 86-87 200X engine and all the head mods and cams available for the X will fit your SX. Powroll used to do alot of stuff for these engines, but you will have to check with them as to whether they still do it.

Webb Cams has the camshaft.

As far as suspension goes, If you look at the A-arm design of that quad, you will notice that no other sport quad shock will fit it. The SX has it's lower shock mount on the upper A-arm instead of the bottom.

You can build those motors to get serious horsepower for the size, but the cahssis will limit your ability to use any of it.

 

Thanyou for your post. I took my TRX200SX down to the frame monday and took the top end apart. I guess I'll sandblast it and paint. I found a 12-1 wiesco that is 1.0 oversized I might buy. How much extra power do you think it will give me and is the 1.0 oversized for normal honing and wear or will it require boring. ( i couldn't find a camshaft) Where can you buy high octane gas. I know its allot of questions. I never put a high compression piston in, but I have rebuilt my truck's engine.

 

Hey I have a 86 200sx, can one of you tell me the specs on the carb? I need to know air screw, idle and needle/clip position. I will give it gas it and the idle wont come down unless i choke it. I just cleaned the carb, air filter and lubed the throttle cable as well as put in a new plug

 

Sounds like the choke is backwards. Is the choke closed unless you open it. Try holding it open (you can use a rubber band) and it should run fine. You probably need to re build the thing, which is pretty cheap (20 bucks). The kit will come with new screws.

 

I moved the clip to the 3rd slot and played with the air screw and idle screw, the air screw was too far out and the idle screw was too far in. Now shes running like a beaut'. My girl just and i just went out riding in the snow and its perfect and she like the thing, its a nice jump up from a 1980 atc 110. Thanks
