Default 400ex pipe tip

my freind still didnt get a pipe for his 400 yet, and ive been seeing these pipe tips on ebay that are for thge stock exhaust. i talked to my uncle and he said that if you take the baffle out that it will fry the rings. do you think this will do the same thing. im thinkin that somebody is just making tips with no baffle and selling them in ebay. do you think it would be a bad idea to get one, they are only $40, ad the quad is still under waranty

I have had the baffle out of my 400ex for a while now and it runs fine. I think your uncle is talking about a lean condition. If you take it out and you run lean then you can fry your piston. I see 400ex's all the time that have the baffle removed. I also think if you upgrade the filter and take the baffle out you will most likley need to rejet. I purchased the billet cover (eBay) to make the stock end of the pipe look nice. Take it out then run it and check your plug to see if it running right. Do searches in Yamaha on checking your plug they have talked allot about it. JMO

Whatever you do, don't take the baffle out of ur 400ex, it totally destroys the exaust valve and the muffler bearings, that's what happened to my friend's 400ex,but he's 325 lbs. that could easily do it. A 400ex is not made to pack that much crack!! for sure. By the way I've been a expert at Honda Incorporation for going on 3 yrs. now.

Yeah, but do you check the headlight fluid and the pressure of your handle grips?
