Giving them crap for not sponsoring a GNCC rider isn't very cool.

I'm unsure why people have to be such bungholes about these different models. The TRX and YFZ will both have their own advantages and disadvantages. Just enjoy the fact we have choices like these - I KNOW you've been around long enough to remember the dark ages, Doug....
I'm not giving them crap at all. It was a simple question of does anyone know why they aren't more involved. It was an observation I made the other night when looking at the GNCC results. As for the Honda comments, again I put a nice smiley face afterwards which means I'm just having fun. Don't take it so seriously.

One thing I didn't think about is what Yamaha660R said about most of the talented riders are already riding for Yamaha or other companies. I'm sure they have contracts too so switching mid-season wouldn't be an option when there is factory support involved (vs. aftermarket companies being the main sponsor).

As for the dark ages, I've been riding for a little over 20 years now so I do remember them days. I even raced against Doug Gust in WI before he was in the GNC (he whooped everyone). It's awesome to see Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and other manufacturers get involved like they are. I think it makes good business sense though to hit all aspects of racing where there are large turnouts of potential customers. If people at GNCC races see all Yamaha and Suzukis winning, guess what they will buy.

A 450R also took second in the stock class after starting dead last(switch was off).

I bet alot of honda riders are kinda bummed about chris borich switching from a 250r to a yamaha. He was really tearing it up last year. Alot of the pros that were on non-production quads were training with production quads at the end of last season. I bet alot of the non-production riders went to yamaha because it was a very hot item at the time and like i said, hondas 450r wasnt out yet.

None of the pros were riding their old 250Rs not because they wanted to switch to a Yamaha, but because the rules mandated that they must be riding a production machine this year.

So, if you are a Pro level racer, your choices for the first race were a YFZ, an LTZ/KFX, or a 400EX. Yes, they could have used a 450R, but with the 450R's late delivery there was not enough preparation or practice time available before the first race for any of the pro's to be comfortable with making the jump to a 450R.

You can still ride a non-production bike in the Pro-Am class, but if you ride pro, you must be on a production quad.
