400ex....red header....
Put together my buddies EX last night. Wiseco 10:1, Stage 2 cam, all new gaskets. Didn't get the pipe in the mail, but we started it up to see if it would run, but the cam reccomended staying over 3000rpms till it gets 2-5 cooling periods. So we put the stock filter and lid back on, and the stock pipe and after about 1.5mins the header become really hot on the throttle side of the bike. So shut it off and let it cool off. Then tried again and the header got really hot again.
So we decided to leave it alone till the new pipe/jet's come. But could be it be something else that would turn the header a cherry red?
Or just too damn lean with the new motor mod's?

no it wont hurt to look at the plug but what im saying is its normal to get red hot if ur ideling and it doing that u have a problem! if u think u can run an air cooled atv at 3000rpm and wonder why the pipes are getting red hot u have a bigger problem than that 400ex can ever have. i have installed stage 2 cam on 3 400ex and they all do that drive it around at 3000rpm even if its in a circle
