Default FOREMAN 450S IDLE PROBLEM

Are you sure it is not just cold? Mine acts similar when it's being started for the first time of the day. The choke cable automatically retracts itself, so you have to hold it up manually for about 30 secs. then she runs pretty good. What outdoor temp are you doing this in? I'm talkin about 10 below for my problem, which I think is just the nature of the beast.

Default FOREMAN 450S IDLE PROBLEM

Does this problem occur as it warms up, or at any time?
If it idles fine until it gets warm, the idle mixture is too rich.
1/4-1/2 turn on the mixture screw will likely fix it.

If it occurs at various times, cold or warm, check your connections
between the air filter and the carb. A leak there will lean out the
mixture and cause rough idle, especially when cold. Loose clamps,
cracked or torn manifold, ect.

Check your air filter? Clean it?
Be careful putting too much oil on the filter, it will cause rich mixture too.

Let us know if any of this helps.

it intermits from when its warm and cold, as long as its abouve idle from holdong it there on the throttle manualy its fine, just when it trys to idle by itself it drops off and spudders, ive check everything you mentioned and all is fine, if i throttle it up to where it runs fine when i put it in gear it jumps forward from being at a higher rpm than normal idle and it will run fine till i come to a stop or a idle

any other ifo will be greatly appreciated!!! thanks todd

Check your spark plug color and see if it is running lean or rich when idling.
Black= rich
white= lean
tan=OK

how long has it sat for that it requared the carb cleaned. Have you soaked the carb. sounds like the tube that is under the vacum piston inside the carb that goes to the bowl flush that out with carb cleaner good. Then make sure to check that you choke plunger in the carb is going all the way shut

oh yeah I hope that you didn't loose the piece that goes on top of the emushon tube that the needle slides in. If you look in the carb you should be able to see it stickin up in the carb bore
