Default CR ignition on the 250R

Just bought the final piece of the missing puzzle for the wife's R. Her 330 was a strong runner. The stock ignition had a hard time keeping up though. For those of you who own an R still, save the money on a bigger carb or cool head, and buy yourself a CR ignition. The flywheel is tiny, the new CDI box has a better timing curve, and the coil makes for a hotter spark. All in a nice bundled package that has very little wiring. The motor sounds better, revs extremely quick, and runs like a raped ape. Couldnt be happier. By the way, you almost have to use a better ignition to run alky, the stocker wont fire it very well. ESR did me great here.

I'm getting one. Maybe today. How much did you pay with shipping and all?

You still have a fly wheel it's just lighter. The lighter flywheel lets it rev quicker. You can have ricky stator rewind the cr stator so you can run lights.

Default CR ignition on the 250R

I have a 86 250R with alot of porting. I have the jetting down too near perfect. The engine runs fantastic but falls at the 7/8 to W.O.T.
I'm running a stock carb with ESR K&N filter, ESR TRX 11 pipe and silencer. Stock ignition. The carb jetts are 48 Pilot 72 Main. I'm currently about 200' ASL. The spark plug gap has been reduced to 0.024 to help compensate for the higher compression. I need some ideas from tunners.
Q. Will the stock ignition limit my top end and can I compensate with closer plug gap?
Q. Will the Stock Keihin PJ limit the air flow at the top? and what size carb would fix this problem if you think this is the problem.

Need help soon I have some Bashee's too race.

Glenn
