When I get on my four-wheeler and even before I even put the key in I hear a perking like sound that comes from what sounds like to me the gas tank or directly under it. So I take off the gas tank cap and shake the ATV a bit from side to side and it sounds like I hear it as if the gas is draining BUT no gas on the ground, on the motor and the gas level stays where it should. My only guess is that it’s just the reserve? Its did this from day one. (2K4 Foreman S 450)

Mine makes an odd sound, I traced it to the float for the fuel gauge moving around as the gas sloshes in the tank. Watch the needle on the fuel gauge, if it moves as you hear the sound, it may be what's causing it.
