You do not need a "big bore pipe" for a big bore cylinder, especially a 310. You would definitely benefit from a larger carb, the 38MM Keihin Airstryker is an excellent choice for a 310 cylinder. As far as ease of installation, yes they are but you won't get any instructions with the 310 kit so if you are familiar with putting top ends on the R than you will be fine. Keep in mind if you go to a larger carb like a 38MM you will have a problem fitting the carb into the intake since it's a larger diameter. Just soak the intake in really hot water to make it more pliable, it will fit over the carb much easier. Make sure you have some hose clamps ready and then clamp it down tight. The ESR310 is an awesome setup!!

Easy to install but you will need to have the cases bored. ESR can take care of it for you. If you go with a 38as UPP makes a new boot for the 38as to the reed block that fits perfect, and you do not have to mess around with tring to make it fit. Or worry about it popping out when you are ridding.

You do NOT need the cases machined for a 310, whoever told you that is incorrect! Heck even the new ESR330 kit you do not need the cases machined!

Yup an ESR310 and 330 are completly bolt on now. Like brian said get the 38mm a/s, and a good reed cage, and why not go with ESR. They have good ones for 250Rs. Another choice would be v-force reeds. The carb WILL fit in the stock air boots. After the carb is in it streches out the boots so you dont need to soak them in water everytime. I would also buy a jet kit from ESR.

i was going to buy the carbs from ESR too because for $200 i get a 38mm carb, jet kit, and a jet board which is a pretty good deal i think and the a/s are they any more expensive because if its worth the extra money then i will buy one of them, but i aint exactly rolling in the dough.

The bolt on version can only be bored one time. The version with the cases modified can be bored five times. It's worth the money.

Are you referring to the 310 or the 330 kit because the 310 bolt on kit can definitely be bored 5 times.

There are a limited number of bores with any bolt on kit. The carb problem is a simple one to fix. ESR sells a 38mm A/S that has been machined to fit in the airbox boot. The UPP intake is too long if you want to use the airbox, the box gets moved back about an inch with the longer intake! I personally use a CR250 Intake with a machined 38 A/S and it fits perfectly in between the intake and the airbox. You will need a new throttle cable, intake, hose clamps for the intake and airbox boot, and a couple of intake gaskets.
