Hey, I think I left my key on overnight and the bike in nuetral. Will having that green light on kill my battery? The engine won't do anything. What do I do now? Oh yeah, it's a 400ex.

You can "bump start" it. If you can get a running start pushing it in N then pull in clutch and pop in 1st try that or pull it with something to do it. I used to jump start my TRX300 and that eventually lead to killing the voltage regulator. I think a car battery can do more damage than good it would cause it to crank really fast. Bump starting is not hard and it works.

Using a car battery to jump a quad wont cause it to spin too fast, 12volts is 12 volts, no matter what physical size the case is.
Just remember to hook up the cables to the car last, and disconnect them first. This keeps the sparking at the good battery,.... a discharged battery will outgas hydrogen, while being boosted, and its explosive.

Do not use a car to start a quad---- too many amps will hurt the starter and then some.

Place a low amp charger on the battery and give it ample time to fully charge, or your battery plates will sulidify.

The charging system will not totally charge a dead battery, it must be charged completely with with a low amp charger in order for it to last. and the charging system to MAINTAIN the proper voltage required for normal operation.

I use a Battery Tender low amp charger. It is good charger to top off the battery when the ATV has been sitting for a while.
