soon i am going to be buying a new quad.i am either going to be getting a yfz or trx. i do not know which one to get. i ride track and trails every once in awhile im about 5' 5" 135 pounds. i am wondering what the advantages of both of them are and what the problems are with both of them. thank you for everyone who helps me out with this by reply it is very appreciated.

 

in the April edition of atv rider they said that the yfz beat the trx by a little. also said that the yfz has an uncomfortably hard seat, and the trx has really good brakes... thats all i really remember. i asked a guy at honda while i was there about it and he said the trx is faster in a drag race then the yfz by a few seconds. hope that helps

 

I saw a YFZ and a TRX race at the dunes the other day and the YFZ blew it out of the water! It also depends on the rider, but all the magazines are saying that the YFZ is better even though the Honda came out afterwards. Plus with electric start and reverse, you just can't go wrong with the YFZ. For the seat, they are talking about mxing cuz that's when these riders get the worst beating on their *****. You can also invest about $100 or so and get some better foam and new seat cover for the YFZ if you are worried about it. My alty rappy kept up with both of them too. dude theres no reverse on yfz 450 quad. you got confused with the yfz flying past ya and ya looked down and saw your reverse ****

 

Ha ha you are right! There is no reverse on the YFZ! NOw you made me feel like a dumba$$ ! NOT!!!!!!!!! Because i know a stock YFZ will beat the TRX and the electric start is convenient rather than the kick start.... When that Honda get stuck on the middle of a hill, it's going to be a little bit difficult to kick start it!

 

Are you saying this because you are a biased Yamaha rider?

 

if u do alot of racing i might go with the yfz. but for fun, comfort, and maby some drags and races the trx. not b/c im a honda fan or what not but if your not much of a racer i think the trx is better...ya know?

 

well, i watched one of my friends take a brand new YFZ 450 straight from the dealership and drag race a 3 week old 450r, and the 450 blew him out over about a mile stretch. then he gave the 450r a head start and passed him and beat him. they switched bikes and it was a little closer but the YFZ 450 still won. they are pretty even if you race a HRC kit w/ no exhaust 450r vs. a YFZ 450

i must say that the honda is an excellent trail bike though. hell, its even an excellent race bike, it just isnt as fast as the YFZ stock form

 

the yfz only pushes 2 more horse than the trx. there is not much of a difference between the two that one will kill the other. its purely the difference in the rider. also in a 300' drag the yfz (stock) beats the trx (stock) by only 0.10 seconds which is a quad length. also i heard that the trx has a higher top speed because of its gearing.

 

I like the TRX 450r looks like a nice quad.
