WARN Contactor Location on 03 Rincon
#1
I am installing a winch on my Rincon and I was trying to figure out where to put the stupid Contactor but I have no clue. So far the only place I have been able to find is to mount it to the frame right behind the airbox. Any one else have any other suggestions. I can't really think of any good place that stays half way dry!
Thanks for the help!

That is a good one, two places I have been mounting them:
Inside the right fender front well, then I use the red and black wires to go to the winch and the yellow and the blue to go back to the battery, of coarse, because of supplied lengths, I have been using 6 gauge lugs and a hammer type lug crimper to make the cables the proper length. works fine as long as you rember to hook the bas-ackwards wiring up the right way. I usually substitute the blue for black and yellow for red when diong it this way.
The other place is inside the rear fender, foreward section, there is a plate where all the connectors for the stator, speed sensor etc... are clipped to. I have been unclipping them from the plate using the top slot of the connector cut-out, of the rear conector on that plate, as my first mounting hole. I mark it, drill it bigger to allow for the first screw, installing that screw, then drilling my other mounting holes for the solenoid. Take note to leave enough room so the shock will not contact the nearest terminal when there is no weight on the whee. Then I will will feed my wires into the battery compartment by drilling 3/8" holes into the battery compartment near the rear of it. Being carefull not to disturb the fuse box and or any other harnesses, seat stays etc.. Uf you remove the seat and look back there on the right rear there is a hump that the seat rests on, I drill behind that through the fender.
On another note I had one customer who wanted their solenoid mounted inside of the tool box.
Whenever I do an install I will generally feed all wires along the existing wiring harness to the front, with the right side tank cover removed avoiding routing any wires against the fuel tank for safety. The red wire off the Warn winch switch harness needs to be tapped into a convieinent spot, so I split the ignition harness casing and tap the black wire (keyed power) and also make all of my winch and battery wires the correct length using the 6 gauge crimped lugs.
Hope this helps...... If you elect the second option, th the connector mounting plate, zip tie the removed connectors to each other and a frame rail, spray with ignition sealer and you should pretty much trouble free as far as factory connector troubles from debris.

I mounted mine where the tool kit is . Fits just right and all the wires were the right length. I just put the tool kit in the storage compartment up front.
