i have a 400ex and if i fill the tank all the way and go out riding i will make it about 3 hours then have to switch to reserve and reserve lasts me around a half hour, maybe more, iv never ran it till it was completely empty:

 

going about average of 40mph I can go 6-7hrs on the normal tank then about 1/2 on the reserve

 

If the bike is stock and you ride it moderately you should be able to get quite a bit of distance from it.

I used to go on 80+ mile trips with my stock 400ex without even touching reserve (and helping the 2 strokes out with free gas because they had run out)

Once I modded it, the fuel economy went to hell.

If you are constantly blipping the throttle,,,and riding aggresively you will also ruin your fuel economy
