400 ex
I am looking at two quads, the 400 ex and the Z-400, i have rode both, and loved the Z but I want something that is going to take a beating and stay together like the honda, I was wondering what i would have to do to the 400 to make it keep up with a slightly modded Z. i was thinking a WhitebrothersE-sereis slip on, a hot cam, rejet, K&N filter, I would like to stay away from messing with the piston. Would porting and pollishing the head help out any? Thanx

Okay let me level with you sure the Z400 might be a good quad with a little goodie hear and there. There is a lot more to go wrong with the Z400 like say the radiator. The Z400 is a very capable machine but try to find parts that are not gonna break the bank. Or try to find parts that are easily avalible honda 400ex are made in the USA by Americans like us. Parts are readliy avalible and are reasonible priced. Because they are made in America. For under a grand you can build one BadBoy 400ex. This is my opinion I'am not trying to **** in anybodies pool thats just how I feel. Hope this is helpful. By the way the Z400 might be better at a few things than the 400ex but the all a around better machine is the 400ex.

I would have to agree with the sandrider..I would rather have an air cooled over a liquid cooled..Just becuase there is less to go wrong..Two depending on the year of the Z the first years had frame problems..I believe the new models are revamped...But in MY opinion the 400ex is just an all around better quad that has a ton of after market hop-ups that can be picked up for under $100.....
