Yeah you guys are right. Thats the rev limiter. He was keeping it pinned to add momentum for the full rotation. I am guessing that was 2nd gear. Once they start doing bigger gaps, they'll be able to use 3rd gear and that will give them more acceleration to the wheels, which means more momentum and easier rotations. The only problem is that they are gonna really haver to shoot themsleves into space to add any more distance.

 

If you listen to the video you can hear them say that he broke the throttle cable. Thats why the revs were acting up.

 

Haha...it does sound like thats what they were saying but that was the rev limiter....trust me. If the throttle would have broken in the air, it would have just died.
