Ouch.

Lesson in point for other riders out there:

Never underestimate a hill.

I did that once with a polaris sp700. Very heavy. Broke 2 ribs and lacerated spleen. Spent six days in the hospital over christmas. I now have a lot more respect for any kind of incline.

My first truly memorable crash was on a 300ex. I had been riding for 3 days total. Anyways, I tried to climb a steep hill as a newbie, first time I was fine. Second time, not so good. I got in a bind and I sat down and gave it gas. I fell about 6-7 feet on to some hard rocks. Seconds later, the quad came down but I had a chance to get out of the way. Smacked my head pretty hard and my back was cut up. It hurt, but I was really pissed at the time. The helmet saved my head from cracking open. Never underestimate the hill and make sure your weight is properly positioned for the hill climb. A little bit of energy expended getting over the front of the bike is a lot less than having to flip the quad back over, bend the handlebars back into place with a 10 foot cheater pipe and having a 3 day old bike look like it was 10 yrs old. The only benefit was that the crash removed the g@y looking plastic on the 300ex's ignition.
