Default 450r vs 400ex

i put a web cam in my buddies 400ex and it just about keeps up with my stock 450r. i have a 13t sprocket on it but still. when are the aftermarket companies going to make some mods for the R. i had a 440ex with pipe cam K&N so far iam not too impressed with the R compared to my 440ex. I guess we will see what happens with some mods

I don't want to slam or diss, but I wonder if you got a bad 450. I have $2,000 into a stroker 440.I love that bike. I can't see selling it for anything. I don't think it would be a fair test to even put my two quads in the same test. The first day on my 450 I was doing a double I wouldn't even try on the 400. I think maybe you should try someone elses 450 and see if you didn't get a beater.

The 450r is pretty bottled up stock. Put a cam and a different exhaust on it and it will be much different. You always here about how atvs are choaked up being stock. I never road my 450r without the HRC kit so i cant tell you the difference but with my old DS just adding mr.hps end cap made it feel like a totally different machine.

And btw, there are many different exhaust, cam and carb choices out there for the 450r already. There will also be higher compression pistons out shortly if not already.

Nacs Makes a Slip on or a Full System Yoshimura Exhaust. And they also make a Pro Design Pro Flow Kit

My EX and Z have K&N's, FMF headers and pipes, and my 450R with the HRC kit will easily eat them alive!!! This is particularly evident when climbing a long steep dune (with Holeshots, not paddles). The EX will make it half way up. The Z will make it with a lot of effort, and the TRZ will fly right up it.

But on a trail i bet I can stay right with you on my 400EX, it's funny cuz i have been down for my bike to get finished and just got the wife a new 400 and took it out to ride with my buddies and they ride a yfz and a raptor all with mods and i was leaving them in the dust, but you know they dident think i could ride that fast on a little 400, i said it's the rider not the bike, it actually ran real good...

Are you sure you are putting 93 octane gas in it? I heard they ran like crap on 87 octane or anything below 91.

Adjust your throttle - there's no way a 400EX with only a cam will run with a properly running stock 450R -- I have a 400EX that has a lightweight Ross piston, bored to 416cc, almost 11:1 compression, head porting, HRC cam, FCR 39mm carb, Sparks Exhaust, etc and it won't run with the stock 450R in a straight drag even with the stock 14T front sprocket on the 450R.

i was wondering what pipe would be the best the white brothers pro meg was good on the 400ex any one know or have any info on pipes that are out now thanks
