300ex mods
#1
I would like some suggestions on mods for my 300ex. Its a 2001 and bone stock. Any sugestions would be apreciated as far as looks or performance. Please reference brands also for I am fairly new to the sport and don't know who makes quality products. And most of all those ballon tires have to go.

some web sites i use to order stuff for my 300ex.
I would start with a pipe mod (FMF powercoreIV2).
Next change the air filter to k$n. If you just want to make your Quad look cool Buy some stickers some handguads if you have the money some nerfbars. I wouldnt do any motor mods on a QUAD that new.

The last guy spelled www.rockymountainatv.com wrong. Its a good site and cheap so thats how u spell it.
it all depends on your type of riding. Me and ExRider (another 300ex rider) have 300ex and we HAVE EXACT OPPOSITE OF MODS. Look at mine below. Mine is a much better trail quad while his can wreck me on a track. All depends on what you want to do. But here are some tips.
Looking for low end for trails and stuff-FMF or Supertrapp. For more top end and such big end makes a good pipe. K&N Airfilters are great for both. With these adjustments you'll need a jet 1 or 2 sizes larger, and this may be hard so get that book that tells all about the 250X and 300ex. K&N Kits are a good choice for the airfilter+jetkit. Get the book too.
Now step 2 of future mods depends. Nerf bars are always good though I personally don't think they look good but you need them on the track. Other people like Renthal Handlebars (I don't really care about that either). And then again others also like a different bumper (again I don't care much about that either). I think that since stock wheels are fine, I'd just put Razrs or Bandits on the rears. Again if your gonna be at the track Holeshots may be a better choice but they wear fast.
Now a bigger grab bar is also important. I just ordered the wide and long Desert Grab Bar by PRM. Its bigger than most and safer for wheelies. Big trail riders like myself would want plates. I've ordered chassis skidplates, swingarm skidplates, and a-arm guards. (It will just slide right through rocks and trees).
Now, I've been looking for a replacement airbox. I suggest you drill 2 holes in your airbox lid SO LONG AS YOU DON'T GO IN WATER OR MUD. Thats another power pick up.
Then you can bore, port, and polish your ex. NOW THATS LIKE 2000 right there. With these you'll have a superfast quad, but I'm not gonna do that. I just don't think its worth it for pne who's not racing professionally.
Note, that no one expects you to get these mods all at once. The first to get is the pipe, air filter, and jet kit. Then its up to you.

Tom, take a look at mine. Click on the link below for a few pics. She runs great. I don't race but do trail ride aggressively. I'm very pleased on how I have mine setup and how it performs. If you have any ?'s feel free to ask.
