Default 450R Owners - Kickstarter check

I was out riding over the wknd at the local dunes - big crowds - went to kick it after stopping for a snack - kickstarter and small rubber grommet fell right off my new bike. Funny thing is that there were about 20 people there and 2 guys came up and said --- "thats the 2nd 450R today that we have seen that happen to". THere is one bolt that holds that in - it didnt break - but it came loose - and when thta happens and you kick it over - the dumb thing stays down and hits the side of the engine case - kinda embarrassing - since you have to reach over and stop it from grinding - put it somewhere safe and drive away....

So, check that bolt on your kickstarter - now I have to run to Honda dealer and order one - kind of embarrassing had to spend the rest of the afternoon riding with my kickstarter in my 'tool/fanny' pack....

Just dont let the Yamaha450 guys see you -

Anyway - thought that was worth the mention - check them out - or youll be out of kickstarter.... and there is no backup starter on these bikes !

Later.

Iwas working out in my shop last night & I remembered reading this thread.Just for fun,I put a screwdriver on that screw & sure enough it was about two turns out.I loctited it & tightened the crap out of it.It had a little bit of loctite on it but maybe they don't tighten it enough at the factory.Everyone should check theirs......
