The TRX250R was made between 1986 and 1989. There was a bunch of small difffreneces between these 4 years but the main one was that the '86 and '87 had a steel swingarm while the '88 and '89 had a 1 inch shorter aluminum swingarm. As far as prices go that all depends on what kind of upgrades are on it. A relatively stock 250R in good shape will usually go for around $3,000-$3,500 (where I live). The average 250R with modifications can range from $4,500 all the way up to whatever some guy who sank his life savings into his R wants. My advice is to buy a fairly stock R and build it the way you want like I did. This way the parts you put on are new and you'll know they have quite a few years of use in them. Stay away from heavily modified bikes because that usually means they were raced for years and that usually isn't good. Finally, don't jump and buy the first R you see. There are plenty of good ones left you just have to look for them. I got mine 3 years ago from an old man who hurt himself on it back in 1991 so he put it in storage untill he sold it to me and I only paid $2,300!!!! I'm talking this thing was cherry! Just wait for a good deal. You'll find one.
