A couple of questions.....
#1
Ok I haven't got a quad yet but I am working on it. I am either getting a 400ex or 450r. With this infomation please answer my questions: I am 14 about 5' 9.5" and 155 pounds. My family has 2 utility quads and out of the 105 hours on the Rancher I have probably put 75 to 80 of those hours on it. I have ridden on all kinds of terrans. I also know how to drive a clutch quad, I am not proficiant on one but I deffintally know how to do it. (Ridden a blaster a few times...yes i know a yamaha but oh well hahaha).
1) Would I be able to handle the 450R
2) What are to top speeds of each
3) What are some of the best mods for each
4) How do you properly break in an engine
5) What does a HRC kit include and what does it do
6) What are some good techniques for learning to shift on like wheelies/hills
Thanks for you help.

1) Would I be able to handle the 450R- not likely coming off a utility. i rode my 300ex for the first time coming off a timberwolf and it felt like a rocket at the time.
2) What are to top speeds of each- 400ex-around 68 450r- around 75
3) What are some of the best mods for each- Nerf bars, Pipe/silencer, jet kit, filter, new tires all the way around.
4) How do you properly break in an engine- ride it like you normally would, but dont ever get it to hit the rev limiter or go over 3/4 throttle
5) What does a HRC kit include and what does it do- Cam, jet kit, exhaust insert, aaannddd, i cant really remember what else, id have to look in a magazine.
6) What are some good techniques for learning to shift on like wheelies/hills- wheelies- learn to use your brake first, then learn that you wont flip if you hit the grabbar, then, when riding in first (wheelie) come back JUST past the balance point giving you enough time to pull in the clutch and shift up without the front-end falling, it takes a little while to learn. Hills- never upshift on a steep hill, even if you are revved real high, trust me i know, use first if you going up a short steep hill most of the time and thats prolly as much info as i can give you.

I am really stuck on what to get. I am probably moving to the Dover area in the September time frame and I plan on starting to save this summer. My parents say that I have to pay for part the quad that I want. So.....I want something that will last me a while ovioulsy honda, something that I can upgrade and modify a lot, but mostly something that im not gonna grow out of so....do I want to get the 450R or 400ex. Do you think that they will start to decrease the amount of mods/support on the good ol 400ex because of the new 450r???? I need help

Akdude, I personally think you should go with the 400ex. True the 450R is a better quad but you really should not go out and buy the hottest new bike for your first one. The 400ex is a proven machine that is extremely reliable and well manered. With a few mods you'll be able to keep up with some of todays hottest new quads so you don't have to worry about growing out of it. I race cross country and I have seen modified 400ex's at the head of the pack quite a few times. The 450R is lighter, quicker, and more pwerful but the ex isn't exactly a slouch. If you don't believe me just go to your local MX track......you'll see a few 400ex's.
