Sounds like you got a piece of dirt in the main jet of your carb. Pull the bowl off and check it out. If you are not familiar with carbs see if one of your buddies that is, can help you the first time.

"if i put the choke on these just all of a sudden happend"
supertraprecon, I don't understand the above phrase..what happened? Did you make any adjustment to your ride prior to your problem? I'm just not clear on exactly what the problem is. Cleaning you carb is a very elementary operation, but having a shop manual would certainly be a beneficial investment for any maintenance you do later on.

i meant if i put the choke on it would run a little better but it still ran like crap and would cut out and die after awhile

i did have the carb off before this happend cause i was gonna put on the pc racing carb vent system but i decided not to and i am postive i put everything back on correctly
and yes i do have a shop manual
maybe dirt got in there when i had the carb off?
maybe this is a good time to rejet

Then it sounds like the carb is sucking air big time, if closing the choke allows it to run a little. I'd check the boots very closely to make certain they are on the carb fully with no cracks or holes in them and the clamps are tight. If nothing is wrong there it has to be in the carb or fuel line /petcock area

mine did that. I took it to the dealer and they cleaned the carb and it ran a lot better.

Hey! Don't be so hasty. Get some soapy water, start your engine and brush the soapy water over the clamps at the carb and opposite sides. It sounds like an air leak and if it is, it's at the clamps between the carb and the engine. It'll blow bubbles for you if this is the problem.
