Default 300ex Vs. z400?

I just bought a new z400, and I am inexperienced... My friend has a 300 ex with probably 5 yrs experience... as far as speed and acceleration on trails which bike is faster?

I know that until I get some experience he will beat me...but I hope that doesn't last long!

Thanks for any suggestions

Do you have any riding experience at all?? If you can operate the clutch and shift properly, on the straighaway's you will kill him totally. Just hang on for dear life!!!

In the mean time, until you are completely comfortable don't over do it and get hurt .. and ALWAYS wear your helmet!!

enjoy your ride!!

Just give yourself some time and don't over do it. Learn at your own pace. Don't let them push you too fast, too soon. Remember, thats YOUR machine..............

welcome to the atv world the z400 was agreat choice they are a great all round wheeler as for beating a 300ex give yourself a couple days or maybe weaks and you'll be smoken him on the tails and every were else..... not saying the ex is a good realiable quad they just dont compare to the new 400 class

he would beat u like a red head step child. Even when you are as good as him, in tight woods courses it will be close. Both bikes have good exceleration. You will probably be 1 gear lower than him most of the time but just because the motor on the z is bigger doesnt make it better.

As much of a Honda fan as I am, I'll have to disagree with that one. Like NLWarrior said, if you can basically ride the thing, just hammer through the gears and hang on because you should definitely beat him on a straightaway. As for woods and trails, he may actually have the upper hand because I'm assumming he knows how to take turns and things better than you. If you mean just a drag, however, you should have it.

you guys are not giving the 300 enough credit. Yeah the z is faster, but u dont get it past 3rd in most woods courses. You could get the 300 in 4th and keep up with the z. I know this because we woods ride all the time. out of a blaster, 300ex, 2 400ex's, raptor, and z400, we all pretty much go the same pace.
