Yesterday I thought I would test my pull start. When I pulled on it it didn't rell in the cord. What could be wrong. Could it be from riding in the deep water in the swamps.

 

Can anyone help with this problem.

 

It could be because of getting water and debris in the rope hole. It might be all gummed up and/or rusted in there.

 

If you ever run through muddy water the water will evaporate from the recoil starter's case and leave the dirt behind. You'll have to take the recoil starter off and clean it out. When you get it off there is a plate in there with a notch in it. Get a little slack in the cord and put the end coming off the reel in the notch and you can unwind the spring. Count how many turns you unwind the spring so you can get the same tension back on it.
