PLEASE HELP ME....... ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
#1
ok i have a 2001 400ex and i put some 55w fog lights on it and they worked fine and then they slowly dimed away and now nothing electrical on the fourwheeler works, no lights, no starter with the button, no nothing. i thought it was the battery but it has lots of juice left in it. If it do the old screwdriver trick on the cylenoide it will crank and the lights will come on cause of the alternator turning and they flash like and older carberated vehicle and when you rev it up they get dimmer instead of brighter. i hooked the power wire from the fog lights to the high beam wire on the stock lights and grounded it to the bolts on the front bumper.
But what i am wanting to know is what did i mess up to cause the 400 to act this way.So please if you can, help me please. I want to be riding by this weekend.

You'll need an electrical schematic to help you troubleshoot this.. look in the back of your owners manual (Might be one there)
sounds to me like you overloaded your lighting coil (Stator) The stockers typically can't handle high wattage lights without some re-work...
Check out Ricky Stator (Rickeystator.com I think)
he overhauls stators for higher output situations..
good luck!
