is their anything i can buy to take place of heavier pieces? I want to make my 400ex as light as possible!

Look for billet parts like shift levrs, foot pegs. Get a parking brake block off, after market pipe and muffler (should weigh about half as much as stock).
Aluminum bars, different a-arms (some weigh less). You might even be able to find an aluminum sub frame. You can probably shave about 10 - 15 pound off.

tires and wheels, swingarm, shave plastic, and theres other little things

when i get a parking brake block off, what do i do with the piece still on the clutch perch

if ur really into lightening ur bike u might want to get a kick start and lose the battery and electric starter, this will save apx. 15 pounds. i know people with 300ex's take off there lights i dunno bout 400ex, maybe the back lights. theres some suggestions.

You can take the lights of a 400ex, you then need to buy racing plastic. Maier manufacturing has it.
