Wasnt' impressed for the price.
I sold my 400ex about 5 months ago awaiting thes new 450s.
My friend owns a killer 400ex with all the stuff and went out and boaught a H. 450.
He asked me to go on a ride with him and i couldn't resist.
First off to me 1st gear seemed normal enough to me.
Second it didnt wheelie anymore than any Quad that has power.
The kickstart was no biggy and started every time 1 kick.
I mean ya it runs threw the gears faster and is alittle faster.
I could go on but it comes down to like any other quad u would buy Ya need to spend a whole alot of money on them to make them yours and to your likeing.
Enough said $7000 for a stock 450 or someone who has a after market set up on a 400ex or Z400.
I would keep the 400ex or Z400.
I mean a 400ex is a wood machine
if this is a race quad why do ya have to buy all this stuff to make it a race quad
its sad when your quad is more than your truck.
It made me think and im kinda leaning towards a kawasaki 400 and go from there.
I think if ya have the money to put into a Yamaha or Honda 450 all the power to ya, they will be the best. Or fastest if thats your fancy

i also rode one it is a nice quad but the power was different than my sons 440, think i like how the 440 goes better at this time. maybe just need to ride it more this was at the dunes so that wasn't the best test site. not sure i like that kick start myself. i would look to see a starter set up like the yamaha soon.

I went riding witha group this weekend and one of them had a 440EX. I think he said he bought it for around 3800 bucks. My 450R was 6250, so yes there is a couple grand price gap. I wouldn't compare the 440 to my 450R though. It seemed my 450R had quite an edge in everything. The guy said he liked his 440 cause of the electric start and reverse though, more power to him.

To each his own, but I had a highly modified 426ex. Aftermarket suspension, all the motor work, I had everything on it. It was a no brainer for me. I took a bath on the 426, and I do not regret it at all. The 450R is a lot nicer machine in everyway.
