Default Carb is leaking fuel from the drain.

I have a 83 185s and it was sitting a few years, drained the old fuel but when i put new fuel in, gas just comes pouring out of the overflow tube on the bottom of the carb. I didnt want to take the carb apart yet to see, i am thinking something is stuck or do i need to take it apart and get a rebuild kit. What would cause the fuel to come out like that?

Any suggestions.

Thanks,
Chris

I would check to make sure your float isnt stuck first.

Any way to check if it is stuck with out taking it apart? If i take the bowl off, i think i may have to repace the gasket.

Usually you can get away without having to replace the gasket, what people usually do is strip the screws on the float . Dont be lazy, pull the carb off, there is no shortcuts in this. Pull off the carb and check the float valve , properly clean your main jet, pilot jet etc. this should take care of the prob, good luck.
