400ex smokeing

hi guys, today i noticed my freinds 400 puting out a good bit of wightish blue smoke and we were wondering what was wrong, i was told it could be exhaust valves or the piston rings are burnt. please only respond if yo know what your talking about, cuz im pretty sure its from taking the baffle out, and some a couple of people on were told me it wouldnt hurt it and apperantly they were wrong so now im stuck riding by myself until we get it fixed. does anyone know what may of happened, thanks

Not sure about the baffle, but I just had a similar problem on my 450 foreman. Turn out the float was sticking and washing the oil from inside the piston. Check the oil to see if it smell like gas. If so, close the gas tank valve and drain the carb. Leave the carb drain open with the drain hose in a container and open the gas tank valve. This may flush the dirt out of the carb. Close the tank valve and close the carb drain. Change the oil and let it drain for at least 30 min. With fresh oil back in start the engine and let it warm for a few minutes and take it out for a test ride. It took a few short rides for mine to stop the smoking but most important is turn the gas valve off when you park it. I hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it's going.
