What do you guys think of the 450R?
I am thinking of buying a 450R and will probably put the HRC kit in it and the 13 sprocket. I had a 250R and a CRF450, will this be the perfrect combination of the 2 . I ride with a few 400ex's with the cdi's, power kits and cams, one is a 440, and a predator, How will trhe 450 compare to these? Speed, control? Also what are the TQ/HP ratings?
Thanks

I love the rideability of my 450r over the 250r. The powerband is much broader and 100% more user friendly. It will handle very well once you adjust the stock suspension, IMO better than a stock 250r. I have riden mine for approx20 hours and not dialed in the shocks, I want to know where they will be after some good hard use. Speed wise the 450r will dominate the 400ex and the Pred. Handling wise stock vs stock theyre all real close. Unless your a pro I doubt you could tell a huge difference. Stock Hp is 37, not sure where the torque is at. I know of some modded 450r's that are in the mid 50s for hp. Dont waste money on the HRC kit, the cam adds more top end and unless you ride in wide open areas you have better options. Nothing else in the kit is really useful except maybe the needle jet. Sparks, LRD, Hotcams, and more offer awesome mid range cams. Pipes are a dime a dozen but none have been ran long enough to prove superiority. Truthfully you wont notice much difference between any of them as far as HP. Yoshi's Titanium series is sweet looking, HMF and their powdercoated cans look cool, the rest all look alike. Looney tune exhaust is working on their setup and it will look diff. with the two mufflers.

Like it more all the time! It is great for open trails and desert, but not the greatest trans for technical trail (you have to do a lot of clutch slipping, just like the 250R). I rode the 400EX for several hours yesterday, then switched to the 450. What a difference! The 450 handles so much lighter and quicker. Finally got the thing up to top speed, and it is way faster than I would ever want to go (HRC kit and still has stock pipe).

I love mine. I went to a 13t sprocket and am glad I did. I ride trails mostly and this really helped out. Not near as much clutch slippage needed. I'll second what speed bump said about the HRC kit. Everything I've read and heard about it is, that it is good, but you can get more HP and torque from an aftermarket pipe and rejetting. All for about thwe price as the HRC kit.
Dtoo what reconranger said. I couldn't believe how heavy my 400EX felt after riding my 450R all day. The handling is light and crisp. Very responsive throttle even at very low end. Go for the 450R. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

What kind of riding do you do?
I've now ridden a 450R with Sparks pipe and HRC kit (mine) and a Sparks pipe and Sparks cam bike. We went out riding and several times we swapped bikes. Then we went back to the house and swapped both bikes out to a 13t front sprocket and it felt like there was a bigger gain from the HRC bike. My buddy also agreed that the HRC bike performed better.
Also with a 13t front sprocket you still have a 74 mph mathmatical top speed.
This bike loves to rev so having a cam that is made for more mid/top end makes sense.
