Get aluminum, stay away from steel. Renthal makes a 400EX bend, I don't know if you'll be able to use your red piece with these or not, see below.

I run CR bend bars on mine, I let the crossbar hold the red piece in place on mine since aftermarket bars do not have the mounting tab, although taller bars may have too much distance between the bottom of the bars and the crossbar to accomplish this. I think I would like a little more pullback, and maybe a little more height.
You may want to check into some shorter bars as well. After riding mine, the tall bars make me feel like I'm sitting in a less agressive position. Demarini makes a set that seems like it may be a good compromise, it's their High bend, High pullback for ATV's. They aren't nearly as tall as the stock bars, but are talle

I have the Renthal 400EX bar, and it's pretty close to the stock one. It does have a crossbar, and the one I bought from Rocky Mountain ATV came with a black Renthal pad...ordered a red one too that I haven't used yet. Anyway, no the stock plastic piece won't work on these bars...not enough room between the bottom of the bar and the crossbar to fit. Looks good without it in my opinion...

I have Renthal 400EX-bend. I tossed the red piece and I think it looks nice. Bars are very similar to stock and enhance appearance.

I HAve the red renthal bar`s. MY red pice fit`s fine between the bars and stay`s in place. Either way it looks good with or with out the red pice.
