I Love my Honda. The 13 tooth sprocket makes all the difference in the world. Just be sure to remove the screw in the kickstarter ,loctite it, and tighten the crap out of it.....

I love trail riding with non reverse "guys"
They are as much fun as the my 2wd can go where 4wd can "guys"
Nothing better than coming up on a muddy trail spot and not being able to "rock" the quad to get unstuck and then having to jump off quad shin deep in mud and try to pull it out of the gunk as your slipping and falling and losing your boot or shoe in the mud.
I HAVE DONE IT! It does however provide a good laugh to all your buddies. Like I said Ive been the one to fall in the mud I know how it feals to manhandle a non reverse non 4wd quad
Lazy? I think not, Hell the fact we are able to afford quads show we must not be to lazy
Dont like the hassle? id say that is more it than lazy.
But what the hoot im 34 and over weight! i dont like jumpin on and off nothing. Give me my rubicon, cooler, snacks, camera, and im the goes to slow on the trails "guy"
Also keep in mind that to some folks, trail rides are trees both sides and only going between 2 and 5 mph with fallen logs to get over and streams to slowly cross.
some times there is confusion onthe term "trail ride"
RIDE ON GUYS, But use the term "lazy" carefully. welfare and working the system to keep from working is lazy

I'm in the same boat for shopping for a new quad....and I'm going with the Honda whenever I sell the scrammy...I love that 450R...as for the reverse issue...the 400's are sweet...and all my riding buddies say that I'm nuts for spending that money on a quad without reverse...honestly..I trail ride ALOT...my scrammy has reverse...but I probably only really "have" to use it a few times...usually I'll just punch it and whip it around...so the reverse isn't an issue for me.

Seems like the Honda is more trail oriented. Reverse is not a big deal for me nor is having to use a kick starter. From what a hear, all I need to do it drop a tooth on the front sprocket and Im good to go From sitting on both bikes at the dealer ship The Honda seems more comfortable, and I like the position of everything to. The Yamaha feels like your sitting on a R6.

Honda-Great looking bike.Love the way it feels sitting on it.Actually am glad it doesnt have reverse or a electric start.
Yamaha-Sit on Quad and it feels like the bike is no where near as comfortable as the TRX.The handlebars seem way low.But its supposed to be faster.
Im also kinda weary to buy one of these new quads because of the rumor that the YFZ will be bumped to 450cc next year. And Honda may improve also next year.
Im confused.

I borrowed my my friends 400ex to go ridding on some very tight trails the other day there was a lot of mud, and rock gardens etc. I think I stalled the quad about 14 times...and I thought to myself it would really suck if I had to kick start this thing every time (trx450) and I found myself getting stuck alot having to turn the quad around and having to get off in knee deep mud to get it unstuck....thinking to myself hrm reverse would be nice. Anyways I was was ridding with a grizzly, kfx700, EX and a Z400. I took the Z for a ride all I can say is wow big difference in power after ridding a EX all day the Ex has more low end but the Z has a lot more mid and top end, the z was also comfortable, has reverse which is very easy to use. So after further review I thing im going to go with a KFX400 I found one localy the guy only rode only like 4 times and has a swing arm skid. He wanted $4500 but talked him down to $4k. Picking it up tomorrow. I also rode the kfx700...nice quad plenty of power the auto was nice for the trails but the thing is insanly heavy. Having all that weight and not being a 4x4 doesnt make sense to me He bent up a tie rod that day. Bent to back with the grizzlys winch but it bent again further down the trail. KFX400 it is!
