hey dude. i am a class points leader in my race series and i am about the only guy left on a 400ex. alot of guys talk bad about them because they are low on power. i think that is the reason they win all the time. less stress on the engine and it holds up great. i have never had a dnf at any race in nearly 3 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opionion the 400ex is the best allround quad... Ya the others might beat you in a drag(not by much)but in the trails they cant touch you.. The 400ex is so well balanced that it is just a great quad to have.. I love mine....JMO

Z/KFX smokes the 400EX in all areas except reliability. Which is more important to you ? No matter what you get your gonna love it. I would still make the same decision if I was going to buy one again even tho all the guys I ride with are on rappys and ex's.

I own both. If I am riding a REALLY tight trail, I will take the EX. In more open country, the Z. The EX motor will lug down, and does better in the tighter stuff. The Z motor likes to rev, and get out and run. Both have great handling. The Z handles a little "lighter" than the EX.

The air cooled 400ex is old tech, step up to a modern quad.

You should read the shootouts in all the magazines. Depending on what kind of riding you'll be doing, they both have their strong points. We have one of each. The reserve is nice for me. My boyfriend has a six pack rack on his 400ex and he can easily swing it around. The seat on the Z400 is super cushy. We both just love the seat on it. It's also liquid cooled. You might want to go to a dealership and sit on both of them.

Go with the honda. More reliable and air cooled has never bothered my quad yet at all.
