Default K&N or UNI

I ride mostly trails and some tracks. Should I get a K&N with an outerwear and take off the outerwear when im on a track, or should I get the UNI?

If you are the kind of person who neglects maintenance, stick with foam. I have 3 K&N's for each bike. One on the bike, one in the wash, and one ready to go. I change the filter as soon as the outerwears gets moderately dirty. No problems in years of hard a$$ desert riding!

I would go with the uni for trails...the K&N's are great but you get the idea from reconranger.

UNI for trails. Especially in dusty areas.

Next time any of you have a K&N filter for trials and any other place where there dirt, dust ect. Take off your airboot and see how much dust is built up on the sides. Go UNI only.

I have K&N in my street bike and jeep, from that experience I wouldn't put in one in a wheeler....D-I-R-T-Y, like somone said here, you'd want more then one...at $50each, I'd go with the foam, TWIN Air or UNI...same thing.

I oil the INSIDE of my airboot, specifically so I can check for any leakage. If any dirt passed the filter it will stick to the oil, then I can wipe the boot out with a clean rag to check for anything that might have gotten by the filter. No problems so far, and desert riding is as dusty as it gets! Still, the average recreational rider is better off with foam.

A few questions.
Should I:
1. Get a K&N for tracks and use a UNI for trails
2. Get a K&N for tracks and use stock for trails
3. Get a UNI for everything and take off the airbox lid on tracks
4. Get a K&N for everything and take off the outerwear on tracks?

Is the jetting the same for the K&N and the UNI? Does UNI restrict the engine too much? Will a UNI provide max power if I add a pipe later?

So many questions... so little time
