I have a '99 400 EX and I was workin on it today and went to take the spark arestor off and all the bolts from off...I was pissed...and what Im wondering is if I could run it with out it? I know it makes it very loud but thats my transportation everyday...and if I cant drive it without blowin it up...was is the best aftermarket muffler to put on it? Thanks Guys...

IT would be ok to run with it out. it will lean out the carb i think but nothing major (it will not blow up)

 

Look up www.ctracing.com , They make good exhaust for all kinds of quads.

Yes, I recently took off my spark arrestor. aka baffle, for the noise. I had it off for about a month, every thing is fine it just sounds louder but not exactly the nice sounding four stroke sound I wanted but I was getting a new pro circuit t-4 pipe. So It doesn't hurt the 400ex it just makes it louder. I would recommend a Pro Circuit t-4 Pipe, Those are pretty good pipes, make sure you get a jet for your carb if you get any pipe.

if your going to put bolts back in it, dont forget antiseez so it doesnt happen again. short term the baffle isnt gonna do a thing. ya may need ta adjust carb. it will run the exhaust valve hoter, thats were you will see long, long term problems. white brothers e series is 4 for 4 with me, i love um. remember to price a jet kit, you'll need it.
