I was at my friends house in June and we decided to go out for a ride...he has a little Honda 125(crappy), we went out there for about 20mins and we were on our way back. so we started to cross and he was in front and he got stuck...then I started to go and what do you know I got stuck too. I finally got mine out of some deeper mud into some shallower mud. He was still stuck , so I get a tow rope out(remember people always carry a tow rope when your with your friends) and I try to pull him and nothings working finally after about 15min. we get the little 125 unstuck. We are now moving, we are still in the mud but it wasn't deep....after about 5 feet my ATV's chain comes off....and now we are like "ohh SH**" theirs nothing we can do but let the little 125 pull my 200SX home. Theirs still about 50ft of mud to cross to get home. So we tie my ATV up to his and we start going. we are doing good now becasue all their is is grass now...until we get to some thick muck. his gets stuck pulling mine. I have to get off mine and now help push his. Finally after about 2hours we got home.
If we didn't have a pull rope we could have been there all night.

Earlier that month his ATV had a broken gear so he had to walk by himself home to get his garden tractor to pull him home.
I could tell you lots of stories about this friend of mine and his 125 breaking down.

On the same line with 'kill switch' problems.

Last year we were on our way back to camp while deer hunting when we rode up on two of our friends while they had their seat off one of their wheelers. Soon to find out they were ready to rip out the carb and start spraying starting fluid over everything!! They had tried new plugs, adding gas, switching over to reserve, replacing fuses with spares and list goes on. It is now about 8pm and about 0 outside and getting colder. We offered to help and were told they've done everything...... We walked up, turned the key, put the kill switch to run, hit the start button, listened to the engine purr, went to camp and we have never let them forget what happned.

Happy wheeling....

Greetings,

But the real question is, did your wife and parents know you had gone riding that day? ;-)

Actually, I was asking Tree Farmer -- I suspect that, like you and I, his whereabouts need to be monitored closely.

But jeepin, thanks for a great thread -- this place needed a touch on the light side.

On the subject of riding when I wasnt supposed
to. When I was much younger much younger it had rained for about 3 days, well I was itching to ride really bad so while Mom & Dad were at work my brother and I snuck the ole SL 70 honda out of the bike shed.(Big no no) Well we decided to try out the garden spot that had just been plowed before the rain, and if you know anything about North Carolina RED MUD you know this was a big mistake. Got about 50ft into the garden and couldnt go any futher, the bike stood up on its own. While trying to walk out in the mud that ranged from ankle deep to knee deep I lost a shoe and sock. Two hours when dad got home he was not a happy camper not only did I get my butt tore up I was grounded from riding for a month. From then on I never rode until they came home, and the only time I went near Dads garden was with the hoe or tiller.
Sorry this was so long but your story brought memories.

DrRod, you really put me on the spot with your question! However, since I do not lie, I must confess to you; no! I did not slip off; my whereabouts were well-known to my family. Thus, unfortunately, I cannot claim credit for any naughty and deceitful forbidden AWOL escapade as you and others have on this topic. I share with you only an encounter with the kill switch, this time!

The kill switch thing gets me every time. I just picked up an 88 250R from New Mexico and got home late. I wanted to show my wife what a great machine we got so I went to start it up and let her put around a little(jetted very lean). Well I kicked and I kicked, nothin. Checked spark, nothin. Checked all connections, nothin. Noticed kill switch in off position. Put the machine back together and started it on the first kick. My wife asked me if it was anything serious. I told her "yea honey, probably gonna need some new a-arms." It didn't work.
