i need help!!
Im jetting my little sisters quad and i put in a 96 main jet (dynojet) and i put the needle on the 5th clip (bottom). I also turned the pilot jet out a few turns (i think 2 and a half). I also turned the air/fuel mixture screw out around 2 and a half turns.
her mods are : pro circuit slip on, k&n filter, lid on.
when you hit the throttle from an idle, it seems to want to cut off (clears up after more throttle), it is popping on decelleration loudly (only loud when i give it a lot of throttle then let off) , and it skips (near 1/4 throttle)
can anyone help me?

How are you suppose to know what the he*ll you are doing if you just change every single thing the carb does....you need to go back to the previous setup and change one thing at a time to reach your goal - never just start popping crap in there not knowing what your are doing. I have been rebuilding carbs for a LONG time, it takes a LOT of experience to guess all the stuff you need to do in one setting.

Mress with the mains.. you wont need to mess with the pilot for the mods you have.. start with the normal jets and go 1 2 then 3 up on main and try them all then try 1 2 and 3 down and do spark plug check on them all you are looking for a golden brown or a tan color for perfection.. Do not just normal ride it..for perfection you must so 1/4 1/2 and full throttle.. check each one and make sure its golden brown or tan color

Hello My boys have a 03 250ex and I had a FMF megamazx 2 installed along with a K&N with vent in the box I run a stock Pilot and I beleive the Main is a 112 it runs great we had a 110 it wasn't as snappy bumped it up 2 sizes and she a screamer for a 250ex. You should call Pro Circuit and see what they recommend. By the way I haven't heard any really good stuff about the DynoJet stuff. Also you might want to check your elevation that could be a issue in jetting.

I learned somthing....wow....I didn't know dyno jets were differnet ranges...i always use Kehin parts.
As for the plug reading scenario, it won't yeild much for you since it isn't a 2 stroke, plug color is not a science with 4 strokes. You should ALWAYS ask the manufacturer of the performance parts you are purchasing as to what you should do to the carb after instalation. I have never had ANY thing good to say about dynojet with exception of the K&N. Carbs are tricky - nobody can say "this is the way it should be"! Carbs are ALL trial and error.

Could someone explain to me, why the pilot jet is turned out from seated?
" I also turned the pilot jet out a few turns (i think 2 and a half). I also turned the air/fuel mixture screw out around 2 and a half turns."
Its supposed to be seated tight, and this will cause your problem. Id also put the clip back in the middle of the needle jet.
jetting Heres a good site with infomation about jetting, it may help you get it running good. But tighten the pilot jet, first, and most of the problems will disapear.
