Ready to build my 250R?
#1
Hello,
I'm starting to build my 250R the way I want it and have alot of questions. For right now I want to make it wider and get some shocks. Should I go +3 or +2 on the front end and what brand of a-arms should I get? should I bother getting long travel a-arms, I don't mx just play ride hard. Also is 369.95 a good price for a excalibur axle I was told they are the best?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm pretty much lost right now on what to do.
Thanks
Bubba

For hard play riding don't go any wider that +2. I have +2 on my R now and I find it hard to ride some places that other stock bikes can ride through. I couldn't imaging another 2 inches.
You should be fine with standard travel shock and arms. You will not realize the benefits of long travel unless you race at a pro level.
As for the axle, RPM DOMINATOR axles are the strongest. They go for about $400.

Thanks for the reply,
How happy are you with you esr 310 kit? I just talked to esr today and they wanted $940 for the kit but I can get a ct310 kit (same cylinder) for $795?
The guy at esr said they put about 50-55hp at the wheels down?
And are the best kit due to not needing to split the cases.
Thanks
Bubba

I couldn't be happier with my ESR 310, it definitly lets you keep up with all the new hi performance 4 stroke without sacrificing any reliability.
When comparing these 310 kits keep in mind that most of the 310 cylinders power is going to come for the port job. I don't know how good the CT porting is but the ESR seems to be consistant.
