More specifically the 330, not the 400. what do you like about it and what do you dislike about it. and what did you pay? I'm considering getting on for my girlfriend.

I have an 02 rancher 350 es and love it.Not too big for the tight spots but big enough to keep up with the big guys on the 660s.I find its a great trail bike for sure and you know it won't let you down because its a Honda.Price varies on them so shop around for the best deal.

Great machines! Only complaint is that the steering (full time 4X4) will fight you sometimes. I suggest a Warn 424, for when you don't need the 4wd.

I have an 01 350, manual shift. I love the bike. The only downside that is a little annoying is that I cannot go into deep mud unless I'm in 1st gear, anything higher and it will bog out. So 1st gear and keep it pinned...sometimes bouncing off the rev limiter. The only mod that I would like to get is the 424, and that's because I like doing donuts and such, kinda hard in the summer with fulltime 4X4!

I bought it used in January with 1700 kms and paid $4800 Canadian. It is in mint condition. Pics in my sig.

My G/F hasn't ridden too many atv's before, but she has no problems getting on it and going. The perfect bike for her to ride, small and nimble.

I just bought an '02 foot shift rancher 4x4 on EBay for $3600 (including about $400 shipping, so $3200). I'd say very good condition on this machine. I'll put the warn unlockable front drive shaft on and a Uni filter, then jet it fothis altitude. I think it is a just-right quad, big enough to get into tough country but not as heavy as the big bores. Question: It doesn't like to shift during the 1st 2 minutes of riding, then it shifts fine. Is this problem clutch adjustment, worn clutch, oil level or something else? Thanks for any help.

Man, I have that EXACT same problem!! No one else I know has ever done it! Even if I let it warm up for 5 minutes I can get into 1st, but no matter how hard I pull up on the shifter it will not go into the next gear for about 30 seconds or so of running! My clutch is adjusted fine, and I've changed the oil many times. I just assumed it is a characteristic of the bike. Usually what I do now is go from neutral right to 3rd and drive it that way for a bit before I shift.

RancherS01, sounds like the same glitch. Please post if you find an answer, I'll do likewise. Anybody else?

I bought my Rancher ES 4X4 a couple weeks ago brand-new for $3949 out the door. I have only ridden once and am very happy with it so far. I had expected the steering to be a bear due to the full-time 4x4 but it's only a problem when making a sharp turn less than 5mph or so....I am very happy I went w/the 4x4 over the 4x2.

It's not too big and not too small. It offers the utility side while still being pretty sporty imo. You can't go wrong...

Oh, and the wife, w/no experience on these things, was flying around and shifting w/o any problem w/i 2 minutes or so. She was even climbing steep hills w/o any problem. The 4-wheel drive really does make a difference.

Thanks for the write up guys, I think that problem is consistant with MANY motor vehicles. Didi you ever notice when your car is cold(auto of course) that it has a hard time shifting from first or.... it will just rev higher.... longer My ninja will shift from 1st to neutral alot when cold and my friends GSXR always shifts to neutral when cold. Things need to losten up with heat. I wouldnt worry too much about it. The nice thing I have found with the NEWER ranchers that I have test driven at the stealership is that they have a switch for 2wd/4wd, it's a nice feature. and it has ESP whih I love either way I think my 5'4" 98 lb girlfriend will find it user friendly and easy to control. thanks a ton guys....

I also have difficulty shifting out of first sometimes, but usually only after the bike has sat and not been ridden for a long while. The Recon and 250EX will do the same thing.
