450r's are nice bikes & by no means I'm brand loyal. My friend has one with Curtis Sparks & jetted. He can hang with my Raptor until third & then it's all over. Just in case he gets any bright ideas and gets the 450 dirtbike, there's a KTM 525sx just waiting to whip up on him again & again!!!!!! Trust me it will take major mods. from any atv to keep up with a KTM 525sx.

 

Dude, you better stop drinking when you ride. I ran my 400ex against a brandnew 05 Raptor this weekend and he only beat me by one quad length. I get sick of hearing the BS on these boards..................

 

I've yet to run against a YZF but I'd like to.....

 

Stock quads are very close and for a 660r the Raptor doesn't blown any high-performance quads away. Let's see how that new 05 Polaris 500 does. Otherwise for pure acceleration I stick with my KTM525sx!!!!

 

its too close for comfort....My race experience, I edged the r out....but im sure it goes both ways.

as to the raptor vs. 450r thing, a modded raptor with an equally modded 450R, the 450r is quicker, and handles better. im not very fond of the raptor

 

I can say the same about this topic.

 

I said that when I got my 450R but now that I had it about 3 weeks it don't bug me much at all. I rarely stall it anymore and it kick starts so easy it's not even a problem. I rather have weight shaved off of my quad by a kick start than having weight taken off of vital parts to compensate for an electric start....... yfz in particular. not bad mouthing, JMO.

 

if you buy the march 2006 edition of dirt wheels they will have the times of both the yfz and the trx 450s in a drag race and the trx wooped the yfz hands down but in the end the yfz did beat the trx on the trails
