300EX HELP!!!!!
#1
I'm reading alot about people eating rear baring on the ex's. Some cases they take the carriers with them and cost around $400.00 to replace. Can anyone give me some maitenence tips or how it sounds, feels, or even looks when they are going south. Anything would be a great help. Just don't feel like forking out buck for stuff that could have been avoided.
Thanks!

One sign of early failure is a suddenly loose and noisy chain. Sometimes the quad will tend to pull to the left or right on a straight road. Always get in the daily habit of rocking the quad side to side with wieght on the grab bar and feel for the telltale clunk. There should be no play in the axle at all. This has been a problem with all Honda sport quads since they have been building them. You drive through a little water and mud and it gets through the crappy wheel seals . There is almost no grease in the bearings and they cant protect against contamination. A little rust forms and the bearings are toast. One thing Ive always done is carefully pry the seals off the new bearings before installing and pack them with grease. They last several years longer that way. And always replace the center bearing spacer if it shows signs of wear on the ends or it will put excessive side load on new bearings when it is tightened up.
Funny thing is I have never had a front bearing fail in any of my Hondas but many original rears.
