I'm both a hunter and a rider, and I've probably got more miles on my boots in the woods than any 5 green weenies combined. I'm a commercial diver for a living and am very concerned about what gets put in the water.
But am I going to blow up an outfall line from a factory, or sink a boat that's leaking oil? HE11 NO!!!
I left California 4 years ago because the place had turned into the Peoples Socialist Republic of California from the place that the "Brady Bunch" was filmed.
At least here we "Recycle" people like that get turned into "Gator Bait" or get stuffed into a crab trap as bait. A vast improvement over the legal system the aqquitted OJ...

I certainly see your point, and I'm sorry if I over-reacted a little. And I absolutely agree that an idol (in this case Mother Earth) can make its deciples believe any kind of action is permissible, even necessary, to further the Faith. That's how they justify their hatred of the Indian tribe in Washington who want to take a couple whales once a year for their cultural traditions. Trees no doubt also have some kind of "soul" which loss to the universe is felt by all of us when one is cut down for lumber to build a house. (Unless it's a house for an official of the Sierra Club--then it's just another "renewable resource" I guess.)
But most of it, above the level of the sincere teenager who knocks on doors for signatures to enlist you among Clinton's Federal Stormtroopers, is a simple power grab. The elite know what they're yelling about is bunk, they know that hunters (and atvers) for instance don't want forests cut down for parking lots any more than they do.
But guns in the hands of you and me represent a threat to their ideal (global) society--one in which national sovereignty and the freedom to educate your kids as you see best is an out-dated concept originated 200 years ago by a few stuffy old guys with powdered wigs who didn't know any better. Likewise the freedom to responsibly use our "public" lands, and build a house wherever we want on our own property (a big, sore issue here in Oregon where a few elite on planning boards can decide where, what type, or even if, you can build on a lot that has been part of a family farm for generations).
It's all about convincing people that we can't exist anymore without Wash. DC., and ultimately the UN. There's much at stake in this election, not the least of which are the next Supreme Court Justices. If Gore wins, being able to ride atvs, hunt, hike with a sidearm just because you're free to do so, and decide what your kid should learn in school will all seem like a pleasant, but fading dream.

I kid you not. And if you looked at it statistically (sp.) I would bet you anything that Marijuana is the biggest cash crop around here. It only takes a second to go find someone to buy off of, and there is definitely no shortage of weed in the area. There are some people who have excelled at growing the crop, some trick the national guard and cops into cutting a smaller crop, and some are succesful enough to pay the cops off. Weed is just a part of growing up around here, and so is looking out for booby traps set up by some of the people.

Listen I have the same problems. See my cottage is near a beach were there r sand roads made from cars behind it. Its great for riding and alot of fun. Im the only one who rides down there!!! So there r these people called the lands and forest which r like nature cops, alot of them own atvs and sometimes they stop me and question me, which i dont really mind because we usally end up talking about quads any ways. They said im aloud to ride down there, just stay off the beach and out of the grass.
Well this one b*tch down there doesnt think its such a good idea and constantly calls the actual cops on me and says that im driving down the beach and in the grass and up and down the main roads which im not! I have respect for the enviroment so....... I usally just ignore her any ways.
There r alot of nice people down here that tell me to ride on their fields so they dont have to mow them and drive down their roads because it keeps weeds frome growning up through them, which makes alot of sense it saves alot of time in the long run for the land owner.
As for those people that do those mean things to off road riders..... if u get hurt u can sew!!! hehe new quad!! thats if u have enough proof. But i really dont hope anyone gets hurt or killed
because the meadia will just re arange the story and say that its the atvs fault!
Well sorry about the spelling and grammer mistakes just try and make sense of that!
