I would like to hear from others who have performed this maintenance themselves.I know I can do the job once I get to the valves. I need to know if I can get to the top of the engine by just removing the fuel tank, or do I need to remove the front plastic besides ?Thanks for any comments.

You do not need to remove the plastic on the side of the tank. That piece is the entire front plastic and it remains on the quad while you do this service. You will need to remove the gas tank though. Good luck. It is very easy, just getting to them is the majority of the work.
