Wiseco 440Kit
#1
I have a technical question about the Wiseco 440 Kit for my 2000 Honda 400EX. The kit does not include a new connecting rod and I was wondering if the I would need a new connecting rod?
Second would I need to run a higher octane gas than 91?
What is the difference between the 11:1 and 12.5:1 pistons?
Does anyone have the kit? If so pros/cons?
Would a 426 kit be more beneficial / worth the time?

I would not recommend the weisco 440 kit. First of all if your motor is tired and needs a little touch start small no sense in hogging the bad boy out all at once. go with a 416 then up ward 426 and so on. From what I have heard from people on the forum is weisco isn't a true compression ratio. I prefer JE piston kits I run a stock bore 03 400ex with JE 10.5:1 piston which is pretty closre to the biggest piston you can install without a bore kit. As for your fueling question anything 11:1 or high should be mixed half or fuel race gas. I feel my quad is faster than a 440 Basically I have brought my 400ex up to the true 400cc mabey a little more it is very fast from the bottom and should have no problem roosting the 450R. See bigger is not always better. The 440 kits aren't bad but if not done extremely well you will have some malfunctions probably with the heating. Hope this is helpful.
