Default Cam Tensioner??

Is there a way to check your Cam chain tensioner to see if it needs to be adjusted?? I am looking in my repair manual and it does not really show how to deal with this tensioner besides on the dissassmeble and assemble of the cylinder head... You would think it would be under maintence..

Any way any pointers on this??

you can't adjust it. it is self adjusting. if you take it off and turn it all the way in, it should release freely. if it doesn't, it should be replaced.
