Changin oil in the 400ex
#1
This is my first time with a 4-stroke quad or dirtbike. I followed the steps in the user manual for changin the oil. I drained both the oil tank and the tranny. Then filled the oil tank back up and ran it for 5 minutes. Then i went to check the check bolt on the right side( When sittin on the quad) and nothing came out. I want to make sure this is normal. I dont wanna blow the engine. Did i change the oil right? Thanks in advance Jerry

I'm sure if you followed the instructions in the owners manual correctly you should be fine. The manual should also give the amount it holds...
lol ...not sure bout that tho my rubicon manual says one thing and it holds more than the manual says..I just read a interesting article on the difference between 4 cycle oil and reg car oil and it is very diff oil be sure you use genuin 4 cycle oil not reg car oil , I only use Honda oil I know
its kind of expensive but its defenitly cheaper then a motor..lol..real expensive for my rubicon it holds almost 6 quarts + filter and its in the $30 range but still better then premature engine wear or damage...Good luck

It states the 4 cycle oil doesnt have the API service stamp witch is good for autobiles for energy savings ect..It was a very long article and quite interisting.Things like reg motor oil has agents that make more sliperier then 4 cycle thats why reg oil is bad for wet clutchs etc..and not to use oils that have molybdenum or graphite additives, and not to use energy conservin oils in atvs etc...
Heres the link to the article...http://www.thumperfaq.com/oil.htm
