i called a few dealers in my general area, and theyve both said that hondas tryin to sell all the 04's off before they announce the TRX400 design. so, is it worth it to wait and get an 05 or go ahead and get a cheaper 04?

 

They might not be making the 400exs in '05.

 

Honda announced that the 05 400EX meets stricter 06 emissions standards early. Why would they do that if there isn't going to be an 05 model??? What changes there will be for 05, nobody has a clue, so it is hard to say if it is worth waiting. The fact that they are selling the 04's cheap, suggests that there will be some substantial changes.

I rode my Z400 this weekend, then traded off with my daughter, and rode the 400EX. The Z is a much more refined machine, particularly the engine! I was impressed that the EX had a lot of engine vibration. Still, the EX is a great trail machine.

 

waiting wont hurt, probably still get a 04 even after they let the cat out of the bag

 

yeah, the honda dealer show is about 2 weeks away; i'd wait to see what they did to it and to see if they added anything new. they may surprise you.

there will still be some leftover '04 400EXs around then, and you may get an even better deal b/c dealers might slash prices even further to get the newer ones on their showroom floor.

 

If you can make a killer deal on an 04 then by all means go for it! If they do give the 05s upgrades chances are they are'nt going to be that significant and most likely you'll have to pay full price. Despite what most people say, they aren't that slow either. For example, a 04 400EX is closer to a YFZ in 300ft. than say a Warrior is to a 04 400EX in the same distance..............[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

 

The 400EX's seem to have a bad name on here but my roommate has one and I've ridden it alot...besides the handling compared to my 250R and my YFZ...I thought it was a pretty decent quad, especially if you can get a good price on it.

 

i called a few dealers yesterday, one of em said they could probly sell me one for like 4700, there definitly cuttin down the prices before the 05 comes out.

 

the 400 is a great quad it just isn't as new as the 450 stuff but it's pretty close.

 

My friend has a 440ex with the engine totally reworked.... but i like it, cause it handles so much better than my craptor, you will be pleased with a 400ex. But if you plan on racin it.... i think their time is almost up for the MX track, unless u dump about 3 grand into the motor itself. I know im a yamaha man... but stay away from a raptor even if u find a great deal on it.... u fix it more than u ride it.
